NEWARK, N.J. (Monday, April 7, 2008)-
The New Jersey Ironmen formally announce today that they will host the Baltimore Blast at Prudential Center this Saturday, April 12, in game two of their opening round series in the 2008 MISL playoffs. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m.

“The intensity and excitement is at a different level for a playoff game,” New Jersey Head Coach Omid Namazi stated about the postseason. “Hopefully, the players will feel that excitement and raise their game to a new level.”

The Ironmen will travel to Baltimore this Thursday for the 7:05 p.m. series opener of their quarterfinal match up. If the series is tied at a game each after the first two contests, a third “mini-game” with a golden goal will be played immediately following the second game. The team that nets the golden goal will advance to the semifinals. If New Jersey is able to win the series, they would face the Detroit Ignition in the second round.

The Blast took the regular season series over the Ironmen, 3-1, and Coach Namazi reflected back on those earlier meetings as a blueprint for his postseason preparations.

“We have to see where we were able to have success against them and try to focus on emulating those aspects of the game,” Coach Namazi commented. “After looking at those different things, we can determine how we can achieve the most success.”

The Blast finished the season as the third seed, and New Jersey enters the postseason as the sixth seed. In other playoff action, fourth-seeded La Raza de Monterrey squares off against the fifth-ranked Chicago Storm. The top-ranked Ignition and second-seeded Milwaukee Wave received first round byes. The MISL semifinal round commences next weekend, and the one-game championship will be played Saturday, April 26, at U.S. Cellular Arena in Milwaukee.
